Teenage Dream
It was raining the first time I saw you, we were soaking wet in track uniforms. You had just won your race, I had just lost mine. You were lead over by my friend, silently I was screaming at her. “Hi, I’m John.” You said.
I introduced myself and said “I look much better when I’m dry.” Instantly I thought of how stupid I had just sounded, but you laughed before walking away to your bus. I didn’t see you for a year after that.
My friend and I walked into McDonald’s when I saw you again; you were sitting there with your brother. I turned to my friend and whispered in her ear, “The red-head’s mine,” before we walked over to talk to you. We talked for at least an hour before we had to part ways once again.
Later that week, you drove around town, trying to find me; you did. I was wearing my best friend’s brother’s lettermen jacket and you drove away disappointed. I told my friends about you through the week as we all prepared to go to a concert.
My friends and I all sat up by the stage facing the crowd. A spotlight swept cheering people, it hit you. I turned to my friends, “There’s that guy!”
“Where?” they asked, eager to see the fantastic guy I had been talking about all week.
“There…” I said, but you were gone. I turned around to someone tapping me on the shoulder, it was you… We have been together ever since; you are my teenage dream come true.
